Job description

Residential Garage Door Technicians are primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various types of overhead doors and openers. These installations are carried out in diverse settings, including garages, residential houses, sheds, boathouses, and any other locations featuring overhead doors.

• Salary: $26 - $30 per hour based on experience

Responsibilities of the Residential Garage Door Installer / Technician

• Oversee and manage inventory to ensure adequate stock levels for garage door installations and repairs
• Responsible for the maintenance of the company vehicle, including regular truck maintenance and proper accounting for equipment and tools
• Implement measures to maintain the company vehicle in optimal condition and ensure its professional appearance
• Operate hand tools and other equipment required for the installation, diagnostics, and repair of garage doors and operators
• Install dock seals and bumpers as needed
• Conduct testing of treadle operating systems to ensure functionality
• Proficiently wind residential-size torsion springs
• Read blueprints and schematics and follow written and verbal instructions effectively
• Utilize provided tablets for work reporting, photo uploads, and monitoring work emails
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical concepts and possess problem-solving skills
• Provide excellent customer service, including communicating with customers, demonstrating door and operator operations, addressing customer inquiries, and collecting payments
• Work autonomously and efficiently to complete tasks in a timely manner
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, regulations, and safety requirements on job sites and company property
• Be open to additional training, such as "Working at Heights" and "Aerial Lift" certification, if required for safe job performance (costs covered by the company if employment is more than one year
• Otherwise, a repayment plan would be discussed for employment less than one year)
• Be receptive to any other duties assigned by the manager that align with the job's scope and requirements

Qualifications of the Residential Garage Door Installer / Technician

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2-year experience installing garage doors
• Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (50+ lbs)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Basic knowledge of overhead doors would be considered an asset
• Valid G driver's license is a must
